Something fun for the kids !
Our Choc&Play chocolate workshops for kids run throughout the school holidays and all over the year. Workshops last around 30 minutes and are suitable for children aged 4 to 10 years old. 4/5 year olds are the youngest ages who’ll get the most out of it, right up to 10/11 year olds. Young children will need supervising and help, but that’s fine if you’re okay to get your hands a little chocolatey!
The Choc&Play workshops involve learning a little bit about the history and making of chocolate including a tasting of milk, white and plain chocolate. After being shown the workshop and shop each child will make their very own Choc&Play tablet under the supervision of our trained staff.
A chocolate workshop with a difference !
Explanations about cocoa
We start by briefly explaining what chocolate is made from. For us, it’s important the kids understand some aspects of this as we introduce different chocolate making techniques later on that require a little understanding. We will show them real cocoa pods, real cocoa beans and they’ll taste cocoa nib (the inside of the cocoa bean).
Tasting the chocolate...
Kids will then taste the chocolate we’ll be using; always a high-quality Belgian chocolate (dark, milk, white and ruby).
Unlike most chocolate companies we don’t encourage children to eat chocolate, but we know they will, so we think it’s far better to let them make chocolates and teach them about the important health aspects at the same time. It’s a deceptively simple but effective approach and one we’ve developed over many years working with children.
Creating the Choc&Play tablets !
Kids make their own Choc&Play tablet. First they choose the shape they want, the type of chocolate they prefer (dark, milk…) and the ingredients they would like to add on their tablet. It’s a fun-filled workshop with lots of laughter and by the end not only will the kids have made some great Choc&Play tablets, they’ll have learnt an awful lot too.
Finally, the kids will package their wonderful creations into lovely boxes to take home.

The native home of Zaabär
The chocolate factory Zaabär was founded in 2007. The creator was inspired by a wide array of spices floating around the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul. Zaabär was created as an extraordinary combination of fine Belgian chocolate and spices from around the world. The idea is to let your taste buds roam free across the world tasting various more exotic or traditional spices. One of the aspects that nudges Zaabär out of the ordinary, apart from the truly exceptional combination of spices and chocolate, is the unusual vacuum sealed wrapping in which the chocolates are kept in. This wrapping offers a much longer conservation time for all types of chocolate.
The Zaabär factory was redesigned completely in the summer of 2018 and is now The Belgian Chocolate Makers. We offer a tremendous space of 600m2 entirely dedicated to chocolate experiences with both a huge workshop and an amazing chocolate store. We invite all our visitors to explore the tremendous world of our handmade Belgian chocolate through an array of chocolate samples, workshops and other activities, so come visit us!
